More Than 30 Patients From All Over New Jersey Participate in a Fashion Show Designed to Celebrate Their Weight Loss Success at the Annual New Jersey Bariatric Center Holiday Party

Union, New Jersey, December 19, 2008 – Tonight in front of 200 cheering friends, family, weight loss support staff and fellow gastric bypass, LAP-BAND® and REALIZE® Band patients, 30 New Jersey Bariatric Center patients celebrated their weight loss success by proudly walking the red carpet to commemorate their hard work this year.

“Weight loss surgery is only a tool, the real work in losing weight comes from the dedication of the patient to getting healthy,” said Ajay Goyal, MD, FACS, founder of the New Jersey Bariatric Center. “Even with surgery, weight loss takes extreme discipline and dedication. I’m proud of all my patients and their success this year, and I salute everyone in the fashion show who was brave enough to walk the red carpet and show what success looks and feels like to their friends and families. The cheering and encouragement from the crowd was well-deserved.”

Patients in the Spotlight Include:

• Jose and Ralph Boja, Hillside, New Jersey The brothers Borja showcased their total 226 lb weight loss [100 lbs for Jose and 126 for Ralph] after gastric bypass surgery with a stroll down the red carpet. Jose was suffering from severe back pain prior to surgery, and today after he’s lost the weight his pain has vanished and his blood pressure has stabilized no longer requiring medication. Ralph too has experienced significant improvement in his health, as well as in his quality of life and energy levels. Both brothers say they’re living happier, healthier lives. 
• Angel Bailey, Elizabeth, New Jersey Ms. Bailey glided down the red carpet after her LAP-BAND® procedure proudly showing off her 76lb weight loss and the significant improvements in her cholesterol level and joint pain. More importantly, she’s celebrating her first pregnancy, which she attributes to her weight loss, after trying 7 years unsuccessfully to conceive a child.
