New Jersey Bariatric Center® Affiliates with Carepoint Health Christ Hospital in Jersey City to Expand Hudson County’s Gastric Bypass, Gastric Sleeve and LAP-BAND Options
JERSEY CITY, NJ – New Jersey Bariatric Center® is pleased to announce that our bariatric surgeons − Dr. Ajay Goyal, Dr. Glenn Forrester and Dr. Angela Glasnapp – have affiliated with CarePoint Health’s Christ Hospital in an effort to expand the weight loss surgery options offered to residents of Hudson County. New Jersey Bariatric Center®, a medical and surgical weight loss center, helps patients achieve long-term weight loss success through the most advanced bariatric surgery procedures, including Gastric Sleeve, Gastric Bypass, Gastric Band (LAP-BAND®) procedures.
“New Jersey Bariatric Center® has been providing surgical care to patients in Hudson County for more than 10 years and we are very pleased to become part of CarePoint Health’s family at Christ Hospital,” said Ajay Goyal, MD, FACS, founder of New Jersey Bariatric Center®. “This partnership will give our Hudson County patients a place closer to home for their bariatric surgical procedures at a hospital known for their dedication to quality care and commitment to the people of New Jersey.”
Weight loss surgery alters the digestive tract to aid obese patients in losing weight. It is considered the most effective therapy available for morbid obesity and can result in improvement or complete resolution of obesity-related comorbidities, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
New Jersey Bariatric Center® surgeons hope to educate the public about their surgical weight loss options by conducting free educational seminars in Hudson County. The seminars, done in conjunction with Christ Hospital, will take place monthly at the Hilton Garden Inn, 875 Rte 3 East, Service Road, Secaucus, NJ 07094.
Dr. Goyal said patients who attend the seminars learn about the different weight loss surgery procedures. The seminars include information on the health risks of obesity, details on how the surgeries help patients lose weight and the risks and benefits of weight loss surgery. They also learn how to maximize their weight loss after surgery.
“Weight loss surgery is only a tool,” said Dr. Goyal., “We help our patients to achieve success by providing them with the education and support to understand how to use this powerful weight loss tool.”
Support is a critical part of the weight loss surgery journey, noted Dr. Goyal, so New Jersey Bariatric Center® provides navigators to guide patients through the sometimes complicated insurance and pre-surgical testing process. Most important, after surgery, the program gives patients multiple opportunities for support. The program includes follow-up visits with their doctors and nutritionists. There are online and in-office support groups where patients can ask questions, get advice and meet other people who’ve had gastric sleeve, gastric band and gastric bypass surgery.
“Our commitment to our patients continues for years,” notes Dr. Goyal. “They are our patients for life. We form long-term bonds with them by hosting annual parties and picnics to celebrate their success. We hear stories about the vacations they could not have taken if they were still obese. They tell us about the activities they do with their children and all the other small victories in their lives that could not have been possible before bariatric surgery. All of this puts our patients in a position to reach their weight loss goals and improve their health for the long-term”
