Wegovy®, the FDA-Approved Prescription Weight Loss Injection, Available to New Jersey Bariatric Center Patients Who Qualify

Wegovy®, the FDA-approved prescription weight loss injection, is now offered to weight loss patients who qualify as part of the medical weight loss program at New Jersey Bariatric Center®. Wegovy® is a weekly, self-administered injection used for the treatment of chronic weight management in adults with obesity. Wegovy® works by mimicking a hormone that targets the area of your brain that regulates appetite, with studies showing that the drug helped people lose up to 15% of their body weight when used in combination with diet and exercise.

Approximately 1 in 4 adults in the state of New Jersey suffers from obesity, which can lead to chronic health issues such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and other obesity-related conditions.

To qualify for Wegovy®, you must be over the age of 18 and meet the following requirements:

Have a BMI of 30 or greater, or
Have a BMI of 27 or more with at least one weight-related medical condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes or high cholesterol.
