Overlook Medical Center’s bariatric and general surgery departments were rated among the top in the nation by the consumer healthcare rankings group, Healthgrades, said New Jersey Bariatric Center founder and director Ajay Goyal, MD, FACS, who is also Director of Bariatric Surgery and Associate Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery at Overlook Medical Center.

Overlook was the only hospital in New Jersey to be named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for General Surgery™ in 2017 and was in the top 5% in the nation for both general and bariatric surgery. The hospital was also awarded the Bariatric Surgery and General Surgery Excellence awards, in addition to being recognized for superior performance in Bariatric Surgery and as a Five-Star Recipient for Overall Bariatric Surgery.

Dr. Goyal was influential in Overlook’s gaining accreditation by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) and subsequent re-designation.
