Allison Lost 120 Lbs.*

By New Jersey Bariatric Center Staff

My body used to ache when I got out of bed in the morning. I was tired and always uncomfortable. I struggled with my weight since college but I really lost control after getting married and having two kids. The turning point for me was when I saw a photo of myself at my kid’s birthday party. I could not believe that I let myself get that heavy. I knew I needed to get healthy for myself and for my family so I decided to make an appointment at New Jersey Bariatric Center that week.

Gastric sleeve was the tool to help me get myself to a healthy weight. Dr. Goyal and the team at New Jersey Bariatric Center have helped me every step of the way. Since my very first appointment until now, I have felt so supported by everyone from the doctors to the dietitians. I truly look forward to my appointments and the monthly support groups. The continued support that NJBC offers is such an important key to my success.

Now, I feel so great. I have much more energy and I am able to keep up with my kids and live a much more active lifestyle with my family. I have run two 5Ks and I enjoy going to the gym. Overall, I feel so much more confident in my own skin.

Since my weight loss I love that I can now shop anywhere for clothes! I used to only be able to buy my clothes at one or two stores and now the options are endless. I was a size 22 pants and now I am a size 12! It is something that I was not expecting to be so exciting for me. In reality, it’s more than just having clothes that fit better -- I feel better and I’ve gained so much confidence.

I would absolutely recommend NJBC to anyone who is considering weight loss surgery. They changed my life. I’m proud of my hard work, dedication and commitment to regaining my health. My only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner.

*According to national studies, bariatric surgery results in an average weight loss of 55-80 percent of excess body weight. Excess weight is the amount of weight one needs to lose in order to have a “healthy” BMI of 25.
