Barbara lost 166 lbs with Gastric Bypass Surgery
I decided to consider weight loss surgery when I noticed that my weight was stopping me from accomplishing and experiencing so many things in my life. I simply had enough. I wanted to be able to live a long and healthy life.
My weight was a lifelong struggle for me. I tried many different diets and forms of exercise. I tried keto, paleo, intermittent fasting, meal planning and so much more. Nothing seemed to work and I began to completely isolate myself from my friends and family. I was constantly hiding in my apartment, even working from home. For a very long time, I didn’t leave the comfort of my home because I felt so ashamed of how I looked. Whenever I did have the opportunity to go out, I couldn’t fit into the clothes I wanted to wear and I felt like everyone was looking at me and judging me. It wasn’t an easy journey, and for years I was just blaming myself. I knew that the way that I was feeling wasn’t healthy and not the way I wanted to live. My mental health was suffering and I knew I needed to make a big change.
After researching both gastric sleeve and gastric bypass, I decided on gastric bypass surgery after speaking with Dr. Goyal. It has been the best decision I have ever made. I chose the bypass surgery over the gastric sleeve because I knew it was a little bit more weight loss. I knew that I needed more discipline and the bypass provided that for me. With the bypass I know that if I tried to slip back into my old habits I would be more restricted. Gastric bypass surgery saved my life in so many ways. I finally feel like myself again. My life now has a purpose. I am so much more confident. I started wearing clothes differently and seeing myself in the mirror under a completely different light.
I chose NJBC because I read a bunch of amazing reviews and Dr. Goyal came highly recommended. I truly felt like I was treated like family at NJBC. The post-op care has been amazing. The entire staff has great synchronization and work ethic. I find myself handing out their business cards often.
Since my gastric bypass surgery I love that I can now go on long walks and play with my dogs. The added confidence makes me more productive. I want to do more. I’m more comfortable going out. It’s really been a dream come true. I can’t wait to go on a rollercoaster, go swimming and just really live my best life!
If you are going through a situation similar to mine, I recommend taking this step. You have one life and you have to live it! You have the chance to be the best version of yourself that you can be. My only regret is that I didn’t do this sooner. “Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change!”
