Medical Weight Loss Program Success: How Rose Lost 68 lbs with Zepbound®

Table of contents
I lost 68 pounds and it started with finally deciding to stop going it alone. I'd been overweight since my early 30s, and no matter how much I tried with diet and exercise, the scale wouldn't budge. It just made me feel more self-conscious. When I heard about the results others were getting with weight loss medications and bariatric surgery, something clicked. I enrolled in New Jersey Bariatric Center®’s Medical Weight Loss Program - MWL@NJBC, started taking GLP-1 medication - Zepbound®. The program offers muscle preservation classes which I participate in and nutrition support. I was happy that the weight finally started coming off.
Why I Chose Weight Loss Medication
Every morning on my way to work, I'd climb the stairs at the train station, no elevator, no escalator, no choice. I started dreading those stairs. The pressure on my feet, knees, and back with every step made it clear my weight was catching up with me in ways I couldn't ignore.
I'd already been through surgery for other medical conditions, so I wasn't eager to add another procedure to the list. When my primary doctor referred me to NJBC, I did my research first. Their patient stories and before-and-after photos were genuinely motivating, and the information on different weight loss medications helped me figure out which option made the most sense for me.
I decided to enroll in MWL@NJBC, where I started taking Zepbound® and ultimately lost 68 lbs.
My Weight Loss Journey with Zepbound® at NJBC
Zepbound® helped me gain the self control I needed to stop overeating and feel full faster. It also helped ease my anxiety I had in the past and changed my taste in food, which helps me steer clear of junk food I used to love.
NJBC helped me reach my health goals in several ways. They offered virtual appointments, which made it more convenient to see my doctor and nutritionist. The staff is highly accommodating, offering great flexibility to fit your busy schedule. They are always friendly and polite in answering questions and scheduling appointments. The team carefully monitors my weight and blood pressure, which helps ensure I stay on track toward my health goals and allows them to adjust dosages as needed.
The nutrition and support classes offered through NJBC’s medical weight loss program are incredibly helpful. They provide essential assistance for my weight loss journey, especially during the holidays when I often face the challenge of overeating at social gatherings. I’ve learned other ways to eat healthy and make better choices. Hearing about other members' experiences and questions in the class is also very helpful. It gives me a better understanding of things I didn’t know or should have asked about.
Overall, I find their medical weight loss program to be very effective. It’s an important part of losing weight and staying healthy. I’ve learned new things from developing healthy eating habits to working out properly through their muscle preservation classes.
Life Since My Weight Loss with MWL@NJBC
Since joining this program, my life has changed tremendously from the food I eat to how I feel. I used to get a lot of pain in my back, feet, and knee, but today I’m no longer in pain and I feel and look healthy. Most importantly, I love to see my blood work looking healthy too.

FAQs about NJBC’s Medical Weight Loss Program and Zepbound®
Most weight loss medications are FDA-approved for adults 18-years-old and above for use in conjunction with behavioral modifications, diet and exercise. To qualify you need a BMI greater than 30 with no obesity-related conditions — such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnea, or PCOS — or a BMI greater than 27 if obesity-related conditions are present. Calculate your body mass index (BMI) here.
Currently, New Jersey Bariatric Center® prescribes FDA-approved GLP-1 Wegovy® and Zepbound® injections, the GLP-1 Wegovy® Pill, Saxenda® and Qsymia® for those who qualify.
Each insurance plan has different coverage for medical weight loss. To find out if you have coverage for Zepbound® or other prescription weight loss medications and injections, contact your insurance provider and ask if you have coverage for branded anti-obesity drugs. If you do not have coverage, you have the option to pay out of pocket if you meet the prescription medical weight loss criteria outlined above.
Both weight loss injections work similarly by suppressing appetite, slowing stomach emptying, modifying hunger signaling pathways and supporting long-term weight management. However, Wegovy® contains semaglutide and Zepbound® contains tirzepatide. You can learn more information about the difference between Zepbound® and Wegovy® here.
