Dr. James Buwen

Dr. James Buwen is a board certified general surgeon with specialty training in bariatric surgery and advanced minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Buwen graduated with honors from Nova Southeastern University, College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He completed his residency training at Rowan University-SOM, Stratford, NJ, Kennedy University Hospital/Our Lady Of Lourdes Hospital, serving as Chief Surgical Resident from 2013 to 2014. After residency, Dr. Buwen completed a fellowship in advanced minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. During his fellowship, Dr Buwen published “Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy: The rightful gold standard weight loss surgery procedure” in the peer reviewed Journal of Surgical Obesity and Related Disease, and received the ASMBS Certificate of Training in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery for Fellows. Dr. Buwen is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (FACOS), American College of Surgeons (FACS) and the American Society For Metabolic And Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS), an associate member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and a member of American Osteopathic Association andvthe Society of the American Gastrointestinal & Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES)
